About
Tsukiji Outer Market is the remaining retail and restaurant section of the former Tsukiji wholesale fish market, which relocated to Toyosu in 2018. The outer market continues to operate with seafood vendors, kitchen supply shops, tamagoyaki stalls, and casual restaurants along a network of narrow market streets. It remains one of Tokyo's most popular food destinations for visitors.
Time Needed
45-60 minutes for a proper walk through and a few stops to eat.
Best Time To Go
Early morning from 8am for the freshest produce and shortest queues at popular stalls. Most of the best options sell out or close by early afternoon.
Getting There
Tsukiji Station on the Hibiya line, 5 minute walk. Or Tsukijishijo Station on the Oedo line.
Tips
The tamagoyaki shops are the thing most people come for and queues form early. Daiwa Sushi and Sushi Dai both relocated to Toyosu if a sit-down sushi breakfast is the goal.
